Louisville Cardinals

The Cardinals still have a number of roster spots open for its rebuilding effort under new head coach Kenny Payne. Among the current players are returners El Ellis and Sydney Curry, as well as transfer big man Brandon Huntley-Hatfield and several incoming freshmen. Key newcomers include four-star small forwards Kamari Lands and Devin Ree.

If Louisville lands transfer target Emoni Bates, that very well could take them out of the picture for another small forward in Baker. But shooting remains a concern of this roster and the opportunity to land a shooter that is already familiar with the ACC could be a good move for the team to avoid spacing issues.

Michigan State Spartans

The Spartans don’t necessarily have shooting issues on the roster, even after losing leading scorer Gabe Brown this offseason. The team still brings back a number of good shooters, including Tyson Walker, Malik Hall, and Joey Hauser. Who they aren’t bringing back is Max Christie, the starting freshman wing that ended up staying in the NBA Draft and leaving a hole on the roster.

Michigan State likely isn’t going to bring in a 15 ppg scorer from the transfer portal but they can add another rotation piece in Baker, who won’t be high usage but can help the team remain one of the better shooting teams in the country next season.
