Clemson Tigers – Scoring guard

After losing all three starting guards this offseason, the Tigers were supposedly good in the backcourt after landing Princeton transfer Jaelin Llewellyn, one of the stars of the Ivy League in the past couple of years. However, he went to Michigan instead, leaving a void on the perimeter. Boston College grad transfer Brevin Galloway provides a veteran presence and former Baylor commit Dillon Hunter has a high ceiling long-term but the team could use another proven performer on the roster.

Clemson’s frontcourt is solid with PJ Hall and Hunter Tyson coming back but they also could use another forward to bolster the depth. Yet it’s the perimeter that needs more work to offset what they lost, otherwise it’ll be an issue in the ACC.

Duke Blue Devils – Shooting guard

The Blue Devils have yet another No. 1 recruiting class to reload after losing five players to the NBA Draft. Four of them weren’t a surprise but the one key decision was starting shooting guard Trevor Keels, who wasn’t a definite first-round draft pick. But he’s gone and that leaves a hole at the two-spot on the roster.

Among the incoming recruiting class, most of the top prospects are in the frontcourt, including Dereck Lively and Kyle Filipowsk. And transfers Ryan Young and Kale Catchings also adds to the depth on the wings and inside. But the backcourt is still weak, with just Jeremy Roach as the lone proven ball-handler and four-star recruit Jaden Schutt as the projected starting two-guard, unless Dariq Whitehead moves over from the wing. Adding a combo guard that can play multiple positions would work best but a legit starting shooting guard would be the missing piece in Duke’s’ starting lineup.
