Memphis

Last year, Penny Hardaway’s team was leaning heavily on blue-chip recruits Jalen Duren and Emoni Bates. This year, the Tigers pulled in the jewel of the Transfer Portal, stealing away Kendric Davis from conference rival SMU. The Tigers depended on their young talent too much the last few seasons and failed to live up to expectations, but the addition of Grandison would only increase a lineup filled with savvy veteran players.

Grandison might not be the best offensive player in the world, and certainly wouldn’t be Memphis’s go-to scorer by any reach, but installing him as their long-range weapon would go a long way to opening up this offense even more. Having a threat like that would allow players like DeAndre Williams more opportunities in the paint. At Illinois, Grandison played this role well; Memphis would merely be banking that his fifth and final year of college basketball would be his most dynamic.

Michigan

Moussa Diabate and Caleb Houstan are both gone, meaning this Michigan team is going to look a lot different next season. Fortunately, the Wolverines will get another year out of talented center Hunter Dickinson and add an exciting scorer in Jaelin Llewellyn. To offset these recent losses, a player like Grandison would be a fantastic addition.

Having recently lost out on Terrence Shannon to Illinois, what better move for the Wolverines to make than to steal a former starter from the Illini? This Michigan squad was not great from long range last season and Grandison would help shore up that deficiency. It’s arguable that Dickinson will have an even better season next year and Grandison’s ability to feed off that and hit shots from long range might be the kind of thing this Michigan team needs moving forward.
