Schedule Outlook

San Diego State is certainly not playing a pushover schedule this season. It all begins with a pair of home games, with certain intrigue for their November 11th contest against BYU. Four days later they hit the road, heading to Stanford, hoping to upend a Pac-12 team for a fourth straight season.

The Aztecs then get a major test as they’ll head west to the Maui Invitational in Hawaii. Their first-round matchup is against a solid Ohio State squad and they’ll get either Arizona or Cincinnati for game two. San Diego State is not some overmatched mid-major, they certainly have the potential to win some games and prove themselves over in Maui, especially against these power conference programs.

The non-conference schedule throws them a break after their return, as their next three games will come at home. The trickiest will likely be UC Irvine, but wins in all three games is certainly expected. The Aztecs will head to Phoenix on December 10th, taking on Saint Mary’s in the Jerry Colangelo Classic. After that game, there are just two more nonconference games, taking them right up through Christmas.

The Aztecs kick off Mountain West play against Air Force on December 28th and get their biggest challenge just over a week later, as they’ll travel to Wyoming on January 7th. There are a lot of winnable games during conference play, though some of these road games could get tricky as well. The final week of the season will see San Diego State playing at Boise State before hosting senior night against Wyoming on March 4th.
