NC State Basketball: Impact of losing starting center Dusan Mahorcic to injury
Isaiah Miranda
Miranda hasn’t played a single minute in an NC State uniform, he only got to campus on Monday, so how could he be on this list you might ask.
Miranda just committed to the Wolfpack last week and can start practicing immediately. He is eligible to play when they take on Vanderbilt Saturday.
Isaiah is a 4-star prospect that comes in at 7 feet tall, and 200 pounds. Once he gets acclimated to the college game, and yes it will have to happen quickly, he has all the makings of being a very effective stretch big in the Wolfpack offense.
Miranda has the range to shoot it from 3 consistently, and the length to be an effective player on the defensive end. The Wolfpack is going to put a lot on this young man to come in and produce now that Mahorcic is sidelined with his injury.
NC State has not had a big man like Miranda since coach Keatts’s first year with the program when he had Omer Yurtseven. Yurtseven averaged 13.5 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 50% from three as a 6’ 11” center. Yurtsevens production in the offense is what helped lead the Wolfpack to the NCAA tournament, something they’ve been unable to accomplish since.
If the Wolfpack can get production from Isaiah and the other guys mentioned, they will have the chance to finish top 5 in the ACC and put themselves in a position to be in the NCAA Tournament.
