Ohio State Buckeyes

It seems as if many of the teams in the Big Ten are on either winning or losing streaks. Ohio State is unfortunately on the losing side, having lost three in a row. The first two, losing against Purdue and this week at Maryland, were perfectly acceptable. But the home loss on Thursday night to Minnesota wasn’t, giving the Buckeyes a Quad 4 defeat.

Ohio State isn’t in any danger, with a NET ranking around 20 and two Quad 1 wins. Plus, their strength of schedule is going to be a nice factor in their favor. But they’re in a rut and if they continue to lose games, the Buckeyes can easily find themselves in that unfavorable 8/9 range in March.

Memphis Tigers

Heading into AAC play, the Tigers needed to limit how many non-Houston losses they accumulate in order to stay on the right side of the bubble. But just two weeks into league play, they already have two. One was at Tulane, with the other being a 107-104 double-overtime loss to Central Florida.

The funny thing is, the Knights are actually a good team, currently on the bubble themselves, and arguably have a better resume than Memphis. And that’s what makes this winnable game hurt more, is that the Tigers could’ve gotten a boost from beating UCF instead of surviving a league landmine. Now the margin of error for them going forward shrinks even more, potentially needing at least one win over Houston to feel good about their at-large chances.
