Mark Adams – Texas Tech

When Chris beard left the Red Raiders for Texas a couple of years ago, the program went with assistant and architect of the team’s strong defense for the job. His first year was fantastic, going 27-10 overall and making the Sweet 16 before losing to Duke in a thriller.

It looked as if the job would be Mark Adams for as long as he wanted it but this season has been a complete letdown to this point. They started out 0-8 in Big 12 play, including a few blowout losses. They were the only team in the conference to not have any kind of resume for the NCAA Tournament, despite doing well in the portal in the offseason.

There’s been some behind-the-scenes concern with Adams as well that has reportedly left boosters frustrated. In just year 2, their administration is not beholden to him and if things don’t improve, they could opt to make a change.

That being said, Texas Tech has won four of its last six games to at least start to get in the bubble picture. If they’re respectable enough, the Red Raiders will probably not have a tough decision to make. But it’ll make the 2023-24 campaign at least interesting if the program doesn’t get back into contention in the Big.
