18. Jackson Paveletzke – Wofford to Iowa State

2022-23 season stats: 15.1 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.7 apg

The 6’3 guard was one of the most impactful NCAA Basketball freshmen this past season, shooting 49% from the field and 39% from three-point range. Paveltzke had 10 games of at least 20 points, including 21 points and six assists in a game against Chattanooga. He joins an Iowa State roster that’s without Caleb Grill and Gabe Kalscheur and sorely lacked shooting come postseason time.

17. Micah Handlogten – Marshall to Florida

2022-23 season stats: 7.6 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 2.3 bpg

The 7’1 center singlehandedly turned around Marshall’s defense in his freshman season and was a legit interior presence, including four games with at least five blocks. Handlogten also produced a 19-point and 19-rebound game against Coastal Carolina in league play. He’s the same kind of offensive player that Florida’s starter last year (Colin Castleton) was but the freshman big shores up the defense and rebounding inside.

16. Noah Fernandes – UMass to Rutgers

2022-23 season stats: 13.4 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.1 apg

The often-injured guard has played just one full season but did produce 14.9 ppg and 5.3 apg as a junior for the Minutemen. This past season alone, Fernandes had 22 points against Colorado and 26 points and seven assists versus Saint Louis. He’s an offensive boost for the Scarlet Knights in the backcourt, whether or not Cam Spencer and Paul Mulcahy come back for another year.
