Kansas Basketball transfer target – Jaylon Tyson

Another Big 12 player that the Jayhawks have been linked with is Tyson, a 6’6 combo forward that has technically played at two other programs in Texas and Texas Tech. He had his first full season with the Red Raiders, starting all 31 games and averaging 10.7 ppg and 6.1 rpg, shooting 48% from the field and 40% from three-point range.

Tyson’s production was inconsistent but he had some big outings this past season. He went for 19 points and 12 rebounds against Baylor, 18 points and nine rebounds versus Georgetown, along with a season-high 27 points on 11/15 shooting at West Virginia. The former four-star prospect has plenty of offensive potential and also was a good defender on the wings as well.

After losing Harrison Ingram to North Carolina and not currently in the Matthew Cleveland sweepstakes, the Jayhawks have turned their attention to Tyson in the small forward department. Again, this is dependent on McCullar not coming back for an extra year.

Tyson’s recruitment is fairly open, coming off a recent visit to Cal. Kansas Basketball seems to be in the mix and there’s obvious familiarity between the sides. It would be a nice pickup for the Jayhawks program and a nice dig at Texas Tech, whose roster is reeling at the moment.
