4. Kansas Jayhawks

The first half of the offseason was very quiet for the Jayhawks, despite having clear needs in the backcourt. They had to replace not only their top two scorers, Big 12 Player of the Year Jalen Wilson and Gradey Dick, but also potentially Kevin McCullar, who is still in the NBA Draft process.

The good news is that Kansas has been starting to land talent. The first one was a big one, grabbing Towson transfer, Nick Timberlake. The 6’4 guard averaged 17.7 ppg and shot 42% from three-point range and had multiple 30+ point outings. He gives the team a legit shooting/scorer threat in the backcourt next to point guard Dajaun Harris.

Also joining the fold is Arterio Morris, a former five-star prospect. He averaged just 4.6 ppg in 12 mpg off the bench as a freshman but if you’re a glass-half-full person, the Longhorns had three star guards that took all the minutes, leaving Morris out of the mix. He has plenty of potential and it’s a risk the Jayhawks are willing to take.

Kansas has KJ Adams back in the frontcourt but is hoping to make one big splash in the portal. They recently hosted Michigan transfer Hunter Dickinson and he’d give them a near-perfect starting lineup when it comes to the overall balance. Even if they don’t land him, there’s plenty of talent overall to have another successful campaign.
