2. Andrew Taylor – Marshall to Mississippi State

2022-23 season stats: 20.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg, and 4.7 apg

One of two 20+ scorers on the Thundering Herd roster, Taylor was in double figures for all but one game. He was on triple-double watch a couple of times, including 27 points, eight rebounds, and six assists against Toledo, along with a career-high 33 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Coastal Carolina. Taylor is an underrated defender, getting a couple of steals a game.

Taylor is the second transfer pickup of the week for Mississippi State, joining big man Bell. He’s set to be the focal point of the Bulldog’s backcourt, joining returning guards, Shkeel Moore and Dashawn. The team didn’t have a double-digit scorer outside of the frontcourt last season but that should change with Taylor’s arrival.

1. Jordan Dingle – Penn to St. John’s

2022-23 season stats: 23.4 ppg and 2.3 apg

Dingle replaced Max Abmas as the highest-scoring player that entered the transfer portal this offseason. The Ivy League Player of the Year started 72 games at Penn in the last three seasons, scoring 15+ points in 26 of 28 games. That includes a career-high 33 points against Columbia on 7/9 shooting from deep.

The 6’3 guard gives St. John’s and new head coach Rick Pitino the star pickup it needed this offseason. Dingle joins Iona transfer Daniss Jenkins, former UConn guard Naheim Alleyne, and UMass freshman transfer, RJ Luiz. He’s set to be the focal point of the Red Storm and if Dingle’s scoring abilities can remotely transfer over, he’ll help lead St. John’s to the top half of the Big East.
