1. Kentucky Wildcats

In recruiting battles involving five-star prospects, it’s hard not to have Kentucky as a favorite. They have the No. 1 incoming recruiting class, including top-20 guards, Robert Dillingham and DJ Wagner. Top-30 shooting guard Reed Sheppard doesn’t get talked about much among the incoming freshman but the sharpshooter will also be in the mix as a likely multi-year newcomer.

Although there was some talk about how much longer head coach John Calipari would be around at Kentucky, it’s very likely that he’s going to be around for at least two more years. And looking at the roster, there’s a chance that most of them will be gone, leaving a number of holes. National Player of the Year Oscar Tshiebwe and Antonio Reeves will be gone no matter what, along with likely Dillingham, Wagner, and top-5 freshman wing, Justin Edwards.

The Wildcats have numerous examples of players going and starring in the NBA, with projected first-round NBA Draft pick, guard Cason Wallace, set to be the latest edition. The SEC juggernaut doesn’t have any class of 2024 commits but they always land a top-tier class and are a destination for top players in the transfer portal as well.

There’s also a chance that Kentucky could land top-10 combo guard, Boogie Fland in the 2024 class as well. That would be an elite backcourt duo that would work on the court. The Wildcats had a previous No. 1 shooting guard prospect in Shaedon Sharpe on board but he ultimately never played a game in NCAA Basketball. Johnson not only is likely going to play but he could be the focal point of the Wildcats’ next Final Four squad.
