Iowa

Last season, the Hawkeyes leaned heavily on star forwards Kris Murray and Filip Rebraca but that won’t be the case anymore. While Iowa will get both Tony Perkins and Payton Sandfort back, they could sure use another boost in the backcourt. Incoming transfers Even Brauns and Ben Krikke solidified the frontcourt, but adding Love would be a monster move for Fran McCaffery to pull off in late May.

In losing Murray, the Hawkeyes have lost their best shooter, but adding Love would fill that hole right up in an instant. You can expect a lot of shots from Sandfort and some of the other weapons still on the roster, but is it enough in the Big Ten? This is not a Top 25 roster right now and it’s not a team many can expect to win the Big Ten, but the star power of Love could change things in Iowa City, especially if he has a bounce-back season.

Kansas State

After an amazing first season under Jerome Tang, Kansas State is looking to continue that momentum and will do so with a very different-looking roster. Superstars Markquis Nowell and Keyontae Johnson are both gone, as are Desi Sills and Ismael Massoud. The Wildcats are depending heavily on some returning faces and could certainly use Love’s services.

Let’s make no mistake; Kansas State already landed one phenomenal transfer in Tylor Perry, a high-efficiency shooter from North Texas. Throwing Love into the mix would give Kansas State the kind of 1-2 punch they had last season; a season that ended in the Elite Eight. There’s young talent ready to grow into the backcourt, but this is a program that’s likely to take a step or two back this season. Adding Love’s shooting could certainly change that trajectory.
