Pac-12 Basketball: Early grades for each teams 2023 offseason moves
8. Colorado Buffaloes – Grade: B+
The Buffs didn’t have many changes with their roster, keeping the top three scorers from this past season. One of the losses was starting center Lawson Lovering but they got a nice upgrade, landing TCU center, Eddie Lampkin. And most important, both Tristan Da Sliva and KJ Simpson are back for another year.
With five-star wing Cody Williams on the roster as well, Colorado has plenty of potential in the Pac-12 next season. They made the earliest move in the offseason but it remains one of the most impactful all offseason.
7. Utah Utes – Grade: B+
It’s been an offseason filled with under-the-radar moves for the Utes, landing three transfers. One is starting point guard Deivon Smith from Georgia Tech, former Washington wing Cole Bajema, as well as Colorado starting center, Lawson Lovering. They did lose 6th Man Lazar Stefanovic to UCLA but are bringing back leading scorer Branden Carlson, as well as guard Gabe Madsen.
Utah may not have brought in any stars but it added plenty of depth to have one of the top rotations in Pac-12 Basketball next season. The backcourt still has some scoring concerns but the forward positions have certainly been upgraded.
