NCAA Basketball: Buy or sell WTE consensus top-10 teams for 2023-24 season?

4. Michigan State Spartans – Buy

There are legitimately several reasons why Michigan State should be viewed as one of the “safer” NCAA Basketball bets to make the Final Four. The first, and most important, is Hall of Fame head coach Tom Izzo. He took what was supposed to be one of the least talented teams in his career and ended up being the last Big Ten team standing in the Big Dance.

And just about the entire core of that team is coming back next season. Tyson Walker and AJ Hoggard will be one of the best backcourt duos in the country, joined by Jaden Akins. Malik Hall is one of the better versatile combo forwards when healthy, while centers Mady Sissoko and Jaxon Kohler are perfectly fine getting minutes at the five-spot.

And if that doesn’t sell, Michigan State also has a top-5 incoming recruiting class to add even more depth. The newcomers are led by Xavier Booker, a five-star big man that could very well start. Four-star guards Coen Carr and Jeremy Fears are good enough to find a way into the rotation as well.

The only negative with this roster is that they don’t have that All-Amercain go-to guy, though Walker did look the part at times. But they have no real weaknesses, either on the depth chart or especially on the coaching sidelines. This is one of the more talented rosters for the Spartans since the last time they made the Final Four and if it wasn’t for a certain big man, they’d easily be the team to beat in the Big Ten.
