Why you should know Dae Dae Grant

The super senior is ready to become a household name. He is already well known within MAC basketball circles and especially Miami Ohio Redhawks circles. The guard was one of the best players that Miami Ohio has seen in quite some time. After three seasons in Ohio, Grant decided to head to Pittsburgh to play out the final years of his college eligibility. Many are going to argue that the Atlantic 10 is a step up in competition from the MAC and Grant didn’t miss a beat. He was still a dynamic player who can impact a game in a lot of ways.

The Dukes guard enters the year with 1,682 career points. That is just 18 points shy of 1,700 and 318 shy of 2,000 for his career. If Grant has the season, we all think he can he is going to score well over 2,000 points and place himself in the company that only about 600 players have ever done. He is one of the most prolific scorers in the game and yet has never been named to a first-team all-conference team. That should all change this year especially if Duquesne lives up to the lofty expectations they have for this season.

Diving deeper into the numbers and the scoring prowess of Grant becomes that much better. He is a career 40% shooter from the floor and 38% shooter from deep. He shoots 82% from the line and has a career 2-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. He also averages four rebounds per game over his career. The knock on him is going to be his overall shooting percentage. He is a volume shooter and has been the “guy” on every team he has played for. The offense revolves around him getting the ball and shooting. Grant takes almost half of his shots from deep, but that still doesn’t mean he should not be recognized as one of the truly elite scorers in college basketball.
