NCAA Basketball: Analyzing 10 early contenders for Kansas transfer Marcus Adams Jr.
BYU Cougars
What if Adams wants to remain in the Big 12? He could with the league’s newest member, BYU. Coming over from the WCC, the Cougars need as much top-100 talent as possible in order to compete. Since he can play some power forward, Adams could fit at the four-spot as a backup to Fousseyni Traore or senior wing, Jaxson Robinson. He’d be part of a nice nucleus wing core that’ll include top-40 guard commit Collin Chandler, who’s set to join the team after a two-year mission for the 2024-25 campaign.
Boston College Eagles
The Eagles used a number of lineups last season, including some three-guard groups. With both DeMarr Langford and Makai Ashton-Langford gone, there’s room on the wings for another player. Adams would compete with transfer Claudell Harris Jr, for minutes and he could be a focal point of the offense in the future alongside Prince Aligbe.
Gonzaga Bulldogs
The Bulldogs currently have as many as three open roster spots available after 6’8 combo forward Alex Toohey de-committed this offseason. Adams would be a natural replacement for him and once starters Steele Venters and Anton Watson leave after next season, there’s room for him to have a larger role. But he’d have to settle for limited minutes out the gate as a freshman, somewhat similar to Kansas.
