NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 16 teams for 5-star Darryn Peterson
Baylor Bears
After the program won the national title, Baylor and HC Scott Drew has landed multiple five-star prospects, including freshman shooting guard, Ja’Kobe Walter. And there’s a strong chance that the Bears can land top-3 overall prospect Tre Johnson in the 2024 class, who’d also be a clear-cut “one and done” NBA Draft prospect. That would create a clear path in the future for Peterson to continue the five-star pipeline.
Indiana Hoosiers
Shooting guard is actually the one position where the Hoosiers probably could upgrade right now. And with them not in position to land any of the top class of 2024 targets, things could line up perfectly to land Peterson if they wanted to. Plus, both Trey Galloway and Anthony Leal would be gone by then, preventing a logjam via the veterans.
Kansas Jayhawks
If we operate under the assumption that Texas transfer Arterio Morris isn’t long for the program, that would leave the two-spot open with the Jayhawks in the future since Nicolas Timberlake is around for just one year. The selling points for the blue blood program are obvious and Peterson would have a great chance at winning it all if he were to pick Kansas. The only question here is whether or not Coach Bill Self will be around two years from now since he’s been dealing with health issues recently.
