The Bottom Line

With a cast of promising returns paired with slew of new recruits looking to make an impact, the groundwork has been laid for Kim English in the first of his six-year deal with Providence. But will it all click in his first year at the helm?

Many questions still loom over the roster after last year’s campaign ended with a whimper. Who will take the reigns at point guard and command this offence? Will Josh Oduro be able to withstand the physicality of the Big East in the middle? Is the hype surrounding Garwey Dual real or blown out of proportion?

The Friars returning pieces will play a major role in keeping this train on the tracks to start the year. Bryce Hopkins and Devin Carter will need to channel their 2022/23 form, while Jayden Pierre, Corey Floyd Jr. and Rafael Castro will be relied upon to step up in their sophomore seasons.

It’s time to turn the “what ifs” of the prior season into what’s next. Only time will tell as a new season of NCAA basketball closes in. But one thing is for certain: the Kim English era at Providence has arrived, and it’s only getting started.
