ACC Basketball: Ranking of top 25 players entering 2023-24 season
By Joey Loose
12. Jeremy Roach – Duke
Certainly filling the role of veteran point guard, Roach is back for a fourth season with the Blue Devils. A former Top 20 recruit, he’s played the point for Duke for the last three seasons, really stepping up last season with a young roster around him. He averaged 13.6 points and 3.1 assists per game, helping lead the Blue Devils to the ACC Tournament title.
Back for his senior year, Roach maintains his standing as a very important piece for the Blue Devils. Names like Kyle Filipowski certainly overshadow him in this lineup, but his combination of solid offensive play, veteran leadership, and ball handling ability puts this Duke team in a great position. Likely the only underclassman in the starting lineup, Roach’s role is as important as ever, as Jon Scheyer will lean on his experience this season.
11. Sean Pedulla – Virginia Tech
It’s year three for Pedulla at the college level and Virginia Tech is hoping for the same level of production as they got last season. He showed potential as a reserve in his freshman season before exploding as a sophomore, averaging 15.0 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game last season. His shooting numbers were slightly down, but that’s not a huge cause for concern for Pedulla.
Simply put, he’s a fantastic athlete coming off a major leap forward as a sophomore. He’ll continue to play a large role for the Hokies and could establish himself as one of the best guards in the ACC. If Virginia Tech has a good year, then you can expect Pedulla is doing all the little things to power that potential from the point. He’ll just need a decent bounce back on the shooting end after struggling at times late last season.
