NCAA Basketball: Ranking top 20 Bob Cousy Award players for 2023-24 season
6. Wade Taylor – Texas A&M Aggies
2022-23 season stats: 16.3 ppg and 3.9 apg
The 6’0 ball-handlers breakout campaign co-inside with Texas A&M being a surprising contender in the SEC last season. With so much production returning, expect the Aggies to be a top-15 caliber team this time around. And with Taylor being the clear star of the team, look for him to be a clear threat to win the Bob Cousy Award.
5. Nijel Pack – Miami Hurricanes
2022-23 season stats: 13.6 ppg and 2.3 apg
Pack was a key starter on the Final Four squad, playing alongside ACC Player of the Year guard, Isaiah Wong. With him gone, it’s Pack’s team on the perimeter. The elite shooter will have the chance to have the ball in his hands a lot more, giving him a chance for a big boost in his numbers this season.
4. Ryan Nembhard – Gonzaga Bulldogs
2022-23 season stats (at Creighton): 12.1 ppg and 4.8 apg
In a lineup where all five starters were in double figures on average, Nembhard was the 4th or 5th option on offense. He followed the path of his older brother Andrew to be the starting point guard at Gonzaga, where he could be the 1st or 2nd, depending on the health of big man Graham Ike. The Bulldogs are a perennial top-10 team and if Nembhard has a large role in that, he’ll be a contender for this award.
