Schedule Outlook

No stranger to touch tests in nonconference play, the Aztecs have a few very intriguing games early in the year, though the season opens November 6th at home against Cal State Fullerton. Just four days later, San Diego State will travel to Provo for their yearly matchup with BYU, hoping for the same result as last season.

There’s another winnable home game in there, but the next major challenge is at the Continental Tires Main Event in Las Vegas. They’ll have a highly-anticipated matchup with Saint Mary’s on November 17th before facing off with either Washington or Xavier two days later.

A neutral-site matchup with California awaits on November 25th, a game part of the SoCal Showdown. The Aztecs also have two true road games in early December, traveling first to UC San Diego before a much trickier contest against Grand Canyon on December 5th.

There are three more nonconference home games, including a matchup with current Pac-12 member Stanford just a few days before Christmas. The true fireworks will be after the holidays as the Aztecs travel to Spokane for a road test against a strong Gonzaga squad in what will certainly be their toughest game of the regular season.

Conference play in the MWC gets going right after New Year’s, beginning with home dates against Fresno State and UNLV. The Aztecs travel to New Mexico on January 13th to face their stiffest challenger in the conference race this season, with the return date just over a month later. The regular season concludes on March 8th with Senior Night against Boise State before the postseason begins.
