2. The Kadary Richmond Al-Amir Dawes duo showed up big-time

This was exactly what needed to happen following their trip to San Diego. Kadary Richmond and Al-Amir Dawes, this team’s two lead guards, struggled against Iowa and USC, but now they seem to have come alive.

Dawes led the way with 25 points off 4-7 shooting from behind the arc along with five rebounds and five assists. While Richmond had 21 points off 9-16 shooting with six rebounds and six assists. To see this duo finally do what they were expected to do was refreshing for this team, and needs to be the norm going forward.

Richmond got all of his buckets inside the three-point arc but was still able to tag in a great night offensively. His physicality as a guard is what can separate this team, and they got exactly that from him. Dawes was back to his crafty self, knocking down his outside shot, and getting some tough buckets to go inside to show off his great finishing skills.

Every game, one of these two players needs to go off for a great performance, but as of late both of them have been cold. To see not just one, but both of them come out great was exactly what this team needed before the going gets tougher. Will they keep it up? We shall see, but this was a huge positive for this team.
