UCF Knights

As strong as the Big 12 looks from top to bottom, the conference isn’t getting everyone in the NCAA Tournament, Entering league play, UCF was projected as the worst team. The newcomer’s non-conference resume included a loss to Stetson, along with the best win being against Charlotte.

After losing by 25 points to Kansas State, the Knights had its first Big 12 home game against Kansas, the premier program of the conference. Despite trailing in the first half, the underdogs went on a big second run to get the lead and hold on for a massive 65-60 win.

Jaylin Sellers had 18 points and Darius Johnson had 17 points and six assists in the win, outplaying the Jayhawk guards. It’s the first good win the program had all season but it’s arguably the best signature win a team can have for its resume, outside of Purdue.

Although UCF did lose to BYU at home, it got itself on the national radar this past week. However, the Knights are going to have a tough week ahead, playing both Houston and Texas on the road. The game against the Longhorns will be winnable for them at least.
