23. Utah State (24-5)

There’s no doubt that Utah State has had a magical season already. The Aggies were something of an afterthought at the beginning of the season, but new head coach Danny Sprinkle led this team to a 16-1 start and has them still sitting atop the MWC standings. It’s been mostly good news for Utah State all season long and it continued this week.

The week started with a close call but another win, as the Aggies were victorious in overtime in a 77-73 outcome at Fresno State. Great Osobor continued a great season with a 21-point, 11-rebound performance while Darius Brown II added 15 points and 11 rebounds. An easier test awaited on Friday and led to another Utah State win. The Aggies defeated Air Force 72-60, getting 21 points and 6 rebounds from Ian Martinez.

The Aggies have lost a few games to the other top teams in the MWC, but have looked the part of an actual contender this season. It’s been a marvelous story in Sprinkle’s first run in Logan but it’s certainly not finished yet. With their eyes certainly focused on the Big Dance, Utah State finishes the regular season with a winnable game at San Jose State and then a rematch with New Mexico on Saturday.
