9. Robbie Beran (Virginia Tech)

A former Top 100 prospect from a half-decade ago, Beran actually spent the first four seasons of his career at Northwestern before entering the Transfer Portal last offseason. He wasn’t some sort of scoring champion or standout weapon, but Beran played very solid basketball for the Wildcats and was in the Big Dance as a senior. He made the decision to spend his final year of eligibility at Virginia Tech and put up decent contributions.

A newly minted starting forward for the Hokies, the Virginia native averaged 5.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, with much best shooting numbers than the year prior, hitting 57% of his 2-point attempts. Virginia Tech had what was largely a mediocre season, finishing in the middle of the pack in the ACC during a 19-win campaign, but Beran provided depth and veteran experience for this squad, even if his numbers didn’t jump off the page.

Beran didn’t have a ton of breakout games early in the season but came into his own a bit more during league play. He had 11 points in a road win at NC State in mid-January and later put up 14 points against Georgia Tech a week later. Beran grabbed 13 boards in a tough loss to Notre Dame and would provide depth for the Hokies during the ACC Tournament and NIT.
