25. Utah State (16-1)
Things are looking mighty fine at Utah State in Danny Sprinkle’s first season at the helm. The former Montana State coach brought in most of this roster and they’ve undoubtedly exceeded expectations to this point in the season. After losing a tough overtime game at Bradley in the opening weekend of the season, Utah State has not blinked since.
On Tuesday, the Aggies got an 83-59 home win over Wyoming, pulling away in the second half. Great Osobor continued a great season with a 20-point, 8-rebound effort as the Aggies shot 52% from the field. Their weekend action was a much closer call, as they pulled out an 87-86 win on the road against UNLV. Osobor and Ian Martinez both had 24 points as the Aggies won their 15th consecutive game.
By no means have these Aggies been perfect this season, but they’ve won their first four games in a tough MWC and look like the real deal with the way they keep winning. The work that Sprinkle has done in his first season is actually amazing, though his team will certainly be tested very soon. Utah State travels to New Mexico early next week, which might be their toughest test during this long streak.
