Seton Hall Basketball: 3 takeaways from dominant win over Xavier Musketeers
By John Makuch
1. Great bounce back win
The Seton Hall Pirates straight up got punched in the mouth against the Villanova Wildcats, and it looked like this team was going on quite a downward trend. But what great teams are able to do, is they are able to rebound and fight back in the next game. A lot of teams will never look the same for the rest of the season after a game like that, but this Pirate squad looked much better than they had in previous weeks in this game.
The Pirates that went on display against Xavier was the team that found itself right there with UConn at the top of the Big East, and now they will need to find themselves back to that type of play. Later this season they have an opportunity for revenge against Villanova, and if they play like they just did, that will be quite the entertaining matchup. But for this team, it is a matter of if they will keep up the momentum that a win like this gives them.
Seton Hall got a chance to get their depth some minutes, to take their anger out after a tough loss, and a chance for some solid momentum heading into the rest of the season. While they still have plenty of work to do to find their way into the great dance that is March Madness, this is the beginning to the end of their season they needed. Next up is a struggling St. John's team, and the Pirates have to keep this going against a team they have already handled quite well.
