2. A great Saturday for the conference

There were six total games on Saturday for Big East teams, and this conference came out and won five out of six. Many of these games were against teams that the Big East squad was heavily favored, but there were a couple of solid wins to celebrate.

You have the previously mentioned Alabama Creighton contest, Trey Alexander led the way for the Blue Jays with 22 points in a crucial victory for them. This was just one of those solid wins though, with some teams in the lower half of the standings taking care of business.

Georgetown won a fun one in overtime against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 72-68. The Hoyas have been in some close contests this season, and this one was no different. Drew Filder did his thing with a 16-point outing, and this capped off a nonconference slate that has Ed Cooley's Hoyas putting together a solid turnaround.

You also had St. John's take care of business against Fordham, Xavier took down Winthrop, and Providence defeated Sacred Heart. While those games do not pop out on their schedules, it is still great when you avoid major upsets from teams like that. This was just a solid Saturday for these teams to close out their nonconference schedules, and prepare themselves for Big East play.
