2014 NBA Mock Draft: An in-depth look at both rounds

57. Indiana Pacers – Markel Brown, SG, Oklahoma State
H: 6′ 3″ W: 184 lbs DOB: 01/29/1992
2013-14 NCAA (34 GP) 17.2 PPG 5.3 RPG 2.9 APG 22.4 PER
Despite getting lost in the Marcus Smart hype over the past couple of years, Markel Brown’s coming off of back-to-back seasons of 15.3 and 17.2 points per game, and as an undersized two-guard, he has the athleticism required to play the position at the next level.
Measuring just 6-foot-3, Brown sports a 6-foot-7 wingspan, with a 43.5 max vertical jump, which makes him a terror in transition. But don’t take that and assume that Brown doesn’t have game from the perimeter, which was a valid knock on him early in his career. Over the past two seasons Brown shot .364 and .379 percent respectively from three, which were impressive improvements from the .242 and .310 percent clips he posted in his first two seasons in Stillwater.
Brown won’t dominate the ball, he has the ability to be a solid defender, and again, he can jump out of the gym, which in my opinion makes him an unquestionable draft pick. — Jared
