5. Detroit Pistons

The Pistons are currently scheduled to pick 12th in the draft. They have a solid center in Andre Dummond, but how long is he going to there? If he stays,  head coach Jeff Van Gundy could try and use the two together and form one of the more imposing front courts in the Eastern Conference.

This would be something of an awkward fit should the staff feel the need to start both Collins and Drummond, but the Gonzaga product would be a younger upgrade to backup Aron Baynes. He would also function well next to versatile assets such as Tobias Harris and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. I don’t think Detroit will take Collins, but the Motor City would be a fine fit for the young center.

If the Pistons end up going away from Andre Drummond in the future, then Zach Collins would be the future of the position for the next several years. The Pistons are in a weird stage of their development, and Collins would help in figuring out an identity for the team moving forward. Collins is a versatile big man who can work with just about any team, especially where playing time and development time are both expected.
