ACC Basketball: Top 10 players heading into the 2018 NBA Draft
1. Marvin Bagley III, Duke
The best player from the ACC in this year’s draft class is Marvin Bagley III. Just how good is he? Bagley was originally a member of the 2019 recruiting class before reclassifying and enrolling at Duke University a year early. He went on to lead the ACC in points per game (21.0) and rebounds per game (11.1).
Bagley can consider his “One and Done” campaign a relative success as he makes the next step to the NBA. He was the second player in ACC history to earn both Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year in the same year. He started 32 of 33 games in 33.9 minutes of action while shooting 61.4 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from 3-point range.
His 22 double=doubles in 2017-18 were a freshman record as were his 948 points. He put up seven 30-point games in his career at Duke and was the first player to average 20 points and 10 rebounds since Mike Gminski (1980).
Bagley joins elite company as he makes the jump from Duke to the NBA. He will be in the running for the first overall pick, so expect to hear a lot of buzz about him in the upcoming months.
