Syracuse

Starting Five: Gerry McNamara, Carmelo Anthony, Wesley Johnson, C.J. Fair, Hakim Warrick

Bench: Johnny Flynn, Eric Devendorf, Rakim Christmas, Brandon Triche, Kris Koseph, Demetris Nichols, Scoop Jardine, Andy Rautins, Rick Jackson, Tyler Ennis, Fab Melo, Michael Carter-Williams

MVP: This one comes down to the trio of star freshman on the 2003 National Title team, all for different reasons. Carmelo had the highest peak, McNamara had a long career full of success, and Warrick falls somewhere in the middle.

As legendary a Melo’s one season run was, I’m going with the full-blown college-level theatrics of McNamara.

The bench is a weird collection of guys who I did not remember being as good as they were, or being worse than I remembered.

Virginia

Starting Five: Malcolm Brogdon, Mike Scott, Justin Anderson, Sean Singletary, Joe Harris

Bench: Kyle Guy, Travis Watson, London Perrantes, Devon Hall, Sylven Landesburg, J.R. Reynolds, Anthony Gill

MVP: As underrated as Singletary’s run was, Brogdon’s all-around greatness makes him the fairly easy pick.

Guy could easily be in the starting five if he comes back and performs well again next year.
