Seton Hall Pirates

At one point, the Pirates had arguably the best resume coming from the Big East. And after starting out conference play with a 2-0 record, things were looking great for Kevin Willard’s team.

It’s been a rough two weeks for Seton Hall, having lost four of their last five games. This week, in particular, was problematic, with defeats to Providence and DePaul, two if the worst teams in the Big East. Although they are certainly improved, giving up 97 points at home to the Blue Demons still isn’t a good look.

Before the loss last Saturday, Seton Hall was projected as a 10 seed in our latest Bracketology. With a 12-7 (3-4) overall record, the Pirates are squarely on the bubble. Non-conference wins over Maryland and Kentucky look great after this past week and are the saving grace for this team. Meanwhile, Villanova, who are looking back to normal after a rough stretch, also represents an opportunity at a great win this next week.

But Seton Hall is in a dangerous spot, as the very competitive Big East is likely to give them a few more losses along the way. How many more can they afford before they’re completely on the wrong side of the bubble?
