17) Nimari Burnett

Position: PG/SG
Height: 6-3
Weight: 185 lbs
High School: Prolific Prep (Napa, CA)
Considering: Alabama, Louisville, Michigan, Oregon, Texas Tech

Scouting Report: Burnett is a true combo guard who can make an offensive impact both at point and when he plays off the ball. He’s an excellent drive-and-kick passer and usually makes smart decisions when attacking the basket, whether to attempt a finish or pass to a shooter on the perimeter. Unselfish in that regard. Burnett also has a good jumper and can be deadly from deep, but is better as a spot-up shooter than an off-the-dribble shot-creator at this point in his career.

His size and length should make him an above-average defender hasn’t always been in the kind of shape need to play hard on that end and carry the offense. Better conditioning will improve his quickness as well.

Prediction: Michigan. Burnett and new Wolverines head coach Juwan Howard has a family relationship going back to when Burnett was in elementary school and Michigan will have a hole at point guard following Zavier Simpson’s departure after the upcoming season.

Burnett is not planning to announce his college decision until January or February because he wants to see how the schools in his final group look on the court this year, and I think that’s because he wants to see how Howard – a first-time head coach – performs in Ann Arbor. I think Howard will do well and land his first marquee commitment in Burnett.
