1. Zeke Nnaji is the Wildcats’ best freshman

Unlike most teams in the conference, Arizona did not struggle last November, beginning the year 5-2, only losing to two top-10 teams Gonzaga and Auburn. Unfortunately, they would go just 12-13 the rest of the way and fail to make any postseason appearance. In the offseason, coach Sean Miller was able to bring in the No. 6 recruiting class according to 247sports, headlined by Nico Mannion and Josh Green, but it has been 6-11 big man Zeke Nnaji who looks like he might be the best freshman at Arizona.

The 240lb. native of Minnesota has had a tremendous first month to his college career. He leads the team in scoring with 19.5 points and is 2nd on the team in rebounding with 5.8 and also has scorched the nets with an 80.7 field-goal percentage, while shooting exceedingly well from the charity stripe for a man his size, shooting 80.6 percent.

He has scored at least 12 points in every game this season and has notched at least 20 in three games including his collegiate debut when he scored 20 and a week later, he scored 26 with 11 rebounds in a win over San Jose State. By the end of the year, Mannion and Green may be the Wildcats’ best player, but over the first month, that distinction goes to Zeke Nnaji.
