Louisville vs. Kentucky

This is the first case of a potential must see NCAA Tournament game that would have been a rematch between teams that already played this season. Not only would this game be a rematch, but it would be another chance for each to show who the best NCAA basketball team from the state of Kentucky is.

In their first meeting, Kentucky ranked #19 at the time, took down #3 ranked Louisville 78-70, thanks to an incredible 27 point performance from Tyrese Maxey, as well as a rowdy crowd at Rupp Arena. Kentucky did play extremely great basketball that day, but I do feel like the crowd at Rupp may have been the difference.

We all know that the home-court advantage in NCAA basketball can be huge, so I am convinced that the outcome would have been different if the game was played at Louisville. If we were given the opportunity to see Louisville and Kentucky go at it again in the NCAA Tournament at a neutral site, then we will truly be able to see which of the two is better.

Prior to the end of the season, Kentucky was one of the hottest teams in college basketball. Louisville finished the season losing two of its last three games, one on the road against #6 Florida State, and the other on the road against #22 Virginia.

With the rest of the SEC and ACC conference tournaments being canceled, it is hard to tell which of these teams would have gone into the tournament with the most momentum, but something tells me it would have been the Wildcats. If the NCAA Tournament would have given us the Kentucky – Louisville rematch, I honestly think the Wildcats would have won again.
