Minnesota Gophers

This team thought they landed their ideal wing in Rice transfer Drew Peterson but he turned around and went to USC instead. Things could work out in the Gophers favor though, as Garcia is a confirmed grad transfer with eligibility for next season, whereas Peterson would’ve sat out if not given a waiver to play.

Minnesota has landed frontcourt transfers Liam Robbins and Brandon Johnson to solidify the frontcourt and should be good on the perimeter if star guard Marcus Carr does indeed come back for another season. They could use more help on the wing outside of returning sharpshooter Gabe Kalscheur, who shot more than seven three-point attempts a game last season. While that’s not Garcia’s strength, they could work well off one another on the court as the ladder can drive and kick out.

St. Bonaventure Bonnies

Another local option that makes potential sense would be the Bonnies, who have zero seniors on the projected roster next season. But they have a chance for a big year in the Atlantic 10, returning key pieces Kyle Lofton, Osun Osunniyi, Jaren English and Dominick Welch. They did add JUCO guard Eddie Creal this offseason to boost depth as well.

Garcia would provide a needed senior to the roster and his ability to play at the 4 could work well with Osunniyi. There would be a nice role for Garcia while not potentially playing at a level above his head in the A-10 for a darkhorse conference title threat next season.
