NCAA Basketball: Ranking 2021 4-Star G James White’s top 12 schools

10. Xavier Muskateers
There will be a changing of the guard in 2020 for the Xavier program. Fan favorites and consistent producers Paul Scruggs, Naji Marshall and Tyrique Jones are all departing the program this offseason. On a top-heavy squad, the search for a new offensive leader will likely fall in the hands of KyKy Tandy and incoming freshman guards CJ Wilcher, Dwon Odom, and Colby Jones.
Although Travis Steele uses more guards in his rotation, there is little room to emerge off the bench for White. His saving grace will be his perimeter shooting, which was significantly lacking on the 2019 team. The emergence of Wilcher, who is also a perimeter sharpshooter, could hinder White’s immediate role, however.
White’s production in other tangible areas, such as rebounding and defensive turnovers, could also propel him to early playing time. While the possibility of fighting for a starting spot and/or considerable minutes in his freshman season is still a valid possibility, the likelihood of the 2020 recruiting class’ success next season is high. White is looking at a logjam situation with Xavier and has better options on the table.
