NCAA Basketball: Ranking 2021 4-Star G James White’s top 12 schools

9. Creighton Bluejays
One of college basketball’s most exciting teams from the 2019-2020 season, Creighton is looking to continue their fiery play next year. The continued development of Marcus Zegarowski was a huge reason for the Bluejays’ success, but the combined danger of the team’s backcourt was a major issue for Big East opponents. Creighton took perimeter shots more than the majority of teams last season but was elite in converting them on the scoreboard.
White’s consistency and offensive versatility on the offensive end will help to ease the transition from Zegarowski and Ty-Shon Alexander to the next crop of shooters to emerge from the Creighton program. The benefit of Coach McDermott’s 4-guard system is ample opportunity mixed with decreased pressure to immediately produce. Creighton moved the ball around the floor exceptionally well and showed balanced scoring from their shooters across the board.
McDermott has heavily relied on his starting 5 over the last several seasons, leaving little room for players to emerge within a season. The Bluejays have continued to recruit well in the offseason and will have reloaded their backcourt by the time the 2021 season rolls around. Although White can improve Creighton’s defensive abilities on the perimeter, he may be looking at a slower start with the program than at some of the other schools on his list.
