Iowa State Cyclones

Head coach Steve Prohm has been adding plenty of talent this offseason in transfers Tyler Harris, Jalen Coleman-Lands, and Blake Hinson, along with top-100 class of 2021 point guard Tyrese Hunter. Outside of Coleman-Lands, each of them will be around for multiple years, and if combo forward Hinson gets a waiver, he’ll be a senior by the time Nesbitt would potentially arrive. So waiting a year off the bench would be the likely scenario if he chooses the Cyclones.

Iowa State is rebuilding now without Tyrese Haliburton but there is a decent amount of talent. That works both ways for Nesbitt, as he’ll have both a solid surrounding roster and competition for minutes. But unless some players break out for the Cyclones, they’ll need more production from all over the roster in order to be competitive in the Big 12.

Maryland Terrapins

It’s been a rough offseason for the Terrapins when it comes to filling out their roster after losing a number of players to the transfer portal. That’s especially true in the frontcourt, where a ton of hope lies in Boston College combo forward Jairus Hamilton gets a waiver to play next season. Instead of a true small forward in the likely starting lineup, the team will likely have Aaron Wiggins at the three-spot.

The good news for Maryland is that they already have landed a pair of top-100 recruits in Julian Reese and Ike Cornish in the 2021 class, a power forward and shooting guard. They still need a true small forward to balance out the roster, with Nesbitt being a near-perfect fit for them. He also would likely get immediate playing time and possibly start as a freshman as well.
