Who Is Cam Mack?

The junior point guard has had an interesting college career and path to the SWAC. The guard, originally from College Station, Tx played his high school basketball for Aggieland Homeschool and from there played one season at Stephen F. Austin. After the one season with the Lumberjacks, Mack transferred to Salt Lake Community College.

While at Salt Lake Mack turned himself into one of the best JUCO prospects in the country. He then committed initially to St. John’s and then head coach Chris Mullin was let go and he took his talents to Nebraska. When he committed to Nebraska, Husker fans were promised a player who was going to be electric. He delivered on that promise averaging a little over 12 points, four rebounds, and six assists. He was also credited with the first triple-double in Nebraska program history.

The play was not the reason that Mack decided to transfer from Nebraska. The guard could never seem to stay out of trouble. Mack had a penchant for showing up a few minutes late to either film sessions or practice. He was also involved in an auto accident on campus that the Lincoln papers reporting him then leaving the scene. Mack was suspended for the final four games of the season, was sent home, and never made it back to Nebraska.

Many do believe the decision to transfer was a mutual parting of ways between the guard and the head coach Fred Hoiberg. Even with all of the disciplinary action, Mack is the one player that Nebraska is going to miss the most. He is that good and that dynamic.
