Conference USA – Bryson Williams (UTEP)

UTEP was a trendy team last season, and many thought they were going to be the team that made noise and got themselves into the dance. Those things didn’t go as planned and UTEP was better than the previous year, but they still struggled. One player that didn’t struggle as has cemented himself as one of the best overall players on the team is senior big man Bryson Williams.

Williams is also one of the best rebounders in the country and the best rebounder in the conference. Williams finished fifth in the conference in overall rebounding a year ago but due to graduations and his overall effectiveness on the glass earn him the nod for the conference. The forward is going to take his game to the next level, and he is likely to average a double-double for the year.

Horizon League – Elyjah Goss (IUPUI)

When previewing the best rebounders from every conference it is likely you are going to find some of the country’s best rebounders who do not get near the publicity they deserve. Goss is one of those players, he is one of the top three rebounders in the entire country. He dominates the glass on both sides of the floor both the offensive rebounding and the defensive rebounding.

Goss set school records for total rebounds in a season with 367 and he averaged just a shade under four offensive rebounds per game. The all Horizon defensive team member has developed elite rebounding skills.

It is not surprising considering he played his high school basketball for an Illinois powerhouse at Bolingbrook who has produced a lot of Division 1 talent over the years. IUPUI didn’t have a great year in terms of wins but with Goss and the returning players, the Jaguars fortunes could soon change.

Ivy League – Tamenang Choh (Brown Bears)

The question of whether the Ivy league plays basketball this year remains. It would be a shame if they did not play because that means the country would not be able to see players like Choh and the Brown Bears. The senior forward is one of the most athletic players in the country he is a great scorer, passer, and the one thing he does better than anyone else in the league is rebounding.

Choh has been a huge part of the resurgence of the Brown basketball program. The senior averaged eight rebounds per game last year which was a little bit below his 2018-2019 season. During that season the forward averaged almost nine rebounds per game.

Even if his total was a little bit down, he still displays a good rebounding prowess on both ends of the floor. Choh has been one of the best players in the Ivy for a few seasons now and let’s hope the Ivy ends up playing basketball this year to give the senior a proper sendoff.

MAAC – Manny Camper (Siena)

Siena had a great season last year and was going to play in the NCAA tournament last season before Covid-19 canceled everything. The Saints had three all-conference players and Camper was the one who stood out the most. The wing averaged a double-double last year and had a huge breakout season and turned into one of the top players in his conference.

Going into the season, Camper was already known for his offensive rebounding prowess as he finished in the top 10 in the conference the season before. Last season he improved that number a great deal and even improved in the defensive rebounding game. He averaged over 10 rebounds per game and three of those were of the offensive variety.

Camper is not a player that you can forget about when a shot is missed because he has proven not only can he get the rebound he is likely going to run the floor and turn it into a bucket. Yet again the mid-major conferences have a hidden gem in the rebounding game.
