Duke, Alabama, and Marquette among options for transfer Noah Gurley
How Noah Gurley fits with the Alabama Crimson Tide
The Tide benefitted greatly from having versatile combo forwards in Herb Jones and John Petty Jr. but they’re going to have to replace not only both of them this offseason, but likely Yale grad transfer big man Jordan Bruner as well. Among their current frontcourt options for next season includes top JUCO transfer Langston Wilson, as well as former top-50 center prospect Alex Tchikou, who missed this past season due to an injury.
With five-star JD Davison coming in and plenty of quality guards also returning, Alabama will be just fine in the backcourt. They’ll be looking for capable frontcourt players to balance things out and they have a starting spot for Gurley, who can be an effective piece in the team’s offense.
How Noah Gurley fits with the Auburn Tigers
Auburn has brought in transfer Zep Jasper as part of an effort to replace both Justin Powell and Sharife Cooper in the backcourt, and they’re currently after more power conference targets too. Far as the frontcourt goes, they have five-star power forward prospect Jabari Smith coming in and could very well have JT Thor and Jaylin Williams back as well.
If Thor, in particular, comes back, Gurley’s odds of starting wouldn’t be that high and would have to settle for a rotational spot off the bench. He’s from the state of Georgia so both of these SEC programs could have local connections that could sway Gurley but the playing time considerations have to be clear. And between these two, Alabama would have the edge.
