LSU Tigers

Biggest Need: Experience

With LSU losing their top five leading scorers from last season, the Tigers are set to have arguably the most inexperienced team in the SEC next season. There are a few quality pieces on the roster including incoming 4-star Alex Fudge, and returning Mwani Wilkinson and Josh LeBlanc.

LSU has however added experience so far in Missouri transfer Xavier Pinson, Illinois transfer Adam Miller, and San Jose State transfer Seneca Knight, but will need to add more to make an impact in the SEC next season. Expect the Tigers to be active this offseason in the transfer portal, most likely adding anywhere from 2-4 instant impact and experienced transfers.

Mississippi State Bulldogs

Biggest Need: Guard Depth

Mississippi State was already set to return their top three leading scorers in Iverson Molinar, DJ Stewart Jr, and Tolu Smith. The Bulldogs however also added two massive additions in North Carolina transfer Garrison Brooks and Memphis transfer DJ Jeffries to round out their starting lineup.

With the starting five now appearing set, the Bulldogs’ biggest remaining offseason need is their depth, in particular at the guard position. Mississippi State already returns a few nice depth pieces including forwards Derek Fountain and Javian Davis, but need to replace backup point guard Deivon Smith who transferred to Georgia Tech. If the Bulldogs can add an experienced backup guard in the coming weeks, they could be a sleeper team in the SEC next season.
