Power Forward

Jayden Gardner is the leading name for UVA basketball to start at the power forward slot. He’s an inside presence that should give their offense a bit of bulk, especially in crunch time when they need a bucket around the rim or even an offensive board. He averaged 2.8 offensive rebounds per contest in his career with East Carolina.

The 6-foot-6, 246-pound forward comes in averaging 18.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg, and 1.4 apg on 47.9 percent shooting from the field across the past three seasons with East Carolina basketball. He was an All-AAC Freshman selection, a second-team selection in 2019-20, and a first-team selection in 2020-21.

With experience as a physical interior presence, look for him to lead the way in the paint. If he gets in foul trouble though, things could get very interesting in the UVA basketball frontcourt. He’s got 30 double-doubles under his belt across 81 games, he’ll need to up the ante as the premier face in the frontcourt.

Kadin Shedrick is another potential name to see appear at the power forward spot. He’s a 6-foot-11, 231-pound sophomore with a redshirt year under his belt. He appeared in 11 contests in 2020-21, putting up 2.5 ppg and 2.2 rpg in 7.8 minutes of action per game.
