Will Notre Dame add to the roster this offseason?

Notre Dame has been contacting a good amount of recruits who are in the transfer portal, but one name that really seems to be a fit is Grant Basile. The big man who played at Wright State could come in and help a much-needed frontcourt for Notre Dame right away. With Paul Atkinson Jr. no longer there, and potentially Nate Laszewski not being around next year, there are a lot of minutes to be had down low in the post.

Basile had a great career at Wright State scoring 1,228 points in his four years for the Raiders. Grant Basile averaged 18.4 ppg, and 8.5 rpg during the 2021-2022 season. The big man in Basile held his own against a talented Arizona Wildcats frontcourt scoring 21 points in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. According to reports, the Irish are a finalist for Grant Basile at the moment. This would be a huge addition for the Notre Dame coaching staff if they are able to land Basile.

With Dane Goodwin and Cormac Ryan returning, the potential return of Nate Laszewski and Trey Wertz, plus a possible point guard and a player like Grant Basile in the transfer portal should put Notre Dame near the upper part of the ACC next year in the preseason voting. They also have a good recruiting class featuring McDonald’s All-American guard JJ Starling, and forwards Ven-Allen Lubin, and Dom Campbell.

There are going to be some new faces next year for this Notre Dame basketball team, but with some familiar faces returning, and some potential transfers coming in it should be another successful year in South Bend. There is no reason why Notre Dame cannot return to the NCAA Tournament in 2023.
