Norchad Omier, 6’7 Forward, Miami Hurricanes

Norchad Omier is a highly-decorated prospect out of the transfer portal that’s spent the last two seasons with Arkansas State Red Wolves. He was the Sun Belt Rookie of the Year in 2020-21 and the Sun Belt Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in 2021-22, putting together quite the stat sheet across his career so far.

Omier averaged 17.9 ppg, 12.2 rpg (4.0 offensive), 1.9 bpg, and 1.6 spg this past season, making quite the impression as a college prospect to know in the Sun Belt Conference and since then, he’s found new footing in the Miami Hurricanes rotation.

While much has been said about the acquisition of Nijel Pack (Kansas State), Omier’s presence fills a void that they didn’t have in 2021-22 on the rebounding and rim-protection front. Their leading rebounder this past season was Jordan Miller, who snagged 5.9 per contest. Now, Miller will have some competition in Omier.

The 6-foot-7, 232-pound forward snagged a career-high 26 rebounds this past season on February 3rd against Louisiana-Monroe and will look to add to his resume as a name to know with the Miami Hurricanes.

Omier put together 35 double-doubles across 52 appearances with the Red Wolves from 2020-22 and looks to finish his final two seasons with a bang in the Hurricanes rotation, where he’ll be another Sun Belt transfer looking to make a splash on the boards in the ACC.
