Oregon and Arizona top finalists for Kwame Evans

Another top-10 prospect that may be close to a decision is Kwame Evans, a consensus top-10 prospect and 6’8 combo forward from Baltimore, Maryland. He plays for Montverde Academy in Florida and had interest in programs all over NCAA Basketball. Evans recently cut his list of options to four in Kentucky, Auburn, Arizona, and Oregon.

I talked about Kentucky before and its recruiting class efforts and it didn’t include Evans because there’s a strong chance they’re getting either/or Justin Edwards and Ron Holland. If they get them, that’ll take the Wildcats out of the conversation for Evans. The other SEC program (Auburn) is involved but the feeling is that they’re a distant third to the Pac-12 programs.

After Mookie Cook de-committed, Oregon now has plenty of room for Evans if he wants to join them. But the same can be said with Arizona, now that Benedict Mathurin has moved off to the NBA. And there’s a strong chance that starting forward Ąžuolas Tubelis won’t be around after next season as well.

Right now, the Wildcats are reportedly leading for his services and would be a nice fit with four-star shooting guard KJ Lewis. Head coach Tommy Lloyd proved that he’s the real deal in his first season at Arizona and landing a top-10 prospect would just add to the momentum.
