Transfer targets for St. John’s Basketball

Noah Thomasson

Thomasson is a transfer from Niagara and already knows about Pitino and half of the current Red Storm roster. The 6’3 guard led his team with 19.5 ppg and 3.5 apg, shooting 48% from the field and 39% from three-point range. Thomasson was a consistent scorer and had the ability to go off, including a 35-point game at the end of the regular season. A backcourt of him and Jenkins would be high-powered enough to cause some damage in the Big East.

Glenn Taylor

He was on a bad roster at Oregon State but the 6’6 combo forward was second on the team with 11.6 ppg, while also being second in passing at 2.2 apg. Taylor had a trio of big-scoring games as well, including 25 points against Portland State and 28 versus California. While his numbers don’t stand out too much, Taylor would give the Red Storm a proven power conference contributor in the frontcourt.

RJ Luis

The 6’7 guard was a standout freshman in the A-10 last season, averaging 11.5 ppg and 4.6 rpg in 23 mpg. Luis was in double figures for 14 of the final 16 games, including 31 points against Duquesne.

Luis isn’t one of the best overall players in the transfer portal but he’s one of the more promising, having three years of eligibility left. He’s someone Coach Pitino could use for both his short and long-term plans for the program.
